Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40k CG Movie
Wed Nov 04, 2009 8:24 am by Flangenimblick
Quote:
Some interesting news revealed at the recent Games Workshop Games Day, looks like a full length CG movie, based on the Warhammer 40,00 IP, is being worked on and is going through Games Workshop's approval process.

It's based on the Ultramarines, which is no surprise since (a) The Space Marines are the poster boys of the IP and (b) the Ultra Marines are the poster boys of the Space Marines.

There are many that are moaning, since Space Marines are somewhat over represented in the IP (and there are many other interesting races), and most Space Marine fans are... well... comparable to twilight fans.

This will mark the fourth 40k movie adaptation attempt, the other two only reaching as far as releasing a trailer before Games Workshop pulled the plug, the other being a b-grade fan-made production supported by Games Workshop.

The CG will be done by the Codex Pictures studio, apparently the guys who worked on all the Bionicle CG, so they have a lot to prove. It will also be a straight to DVD production, which is unsurprising considering how there isn't nearly enough brand awareness to even begin warranting a cinema showing.
